Over 90% land parcels in J&K geo-referenced under DILRMP: Centre | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 10 (KNO): The Government of India on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that over 90 percent land parcels in Jammu & Kashmir have been geo-referenced under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). According to the details shared by Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a total of 68,36,683 land parcels have been identified in Jammu & Kashmir, out of which 62,00,609 parcels (90.70 percent) have already been geo-referenced. The Minister, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the geo-referencing of cadastral maps is being carried out under DILRMP to ensure precise land boundaries and minimise disputes related to land ownership. He said the Centre has been implementing the programme with 100 percent financial assistance since 2016-17 to modernise and digitise land records and the registration process across States and Union Territories, including Jammu & Kashmir. The government further informed that Record of Rights (RoR) and other land records have been digitised and made accessible online through respective State and UT portals to provide real-time land information to citizens. According to the reply, digitised land records are maintained by respective States and UTs with secure servers and prescribed data protection measures, while the Centre is also supporting awareness programmes and training initiatives to improve access and usage of digital land records—(KNO)
